Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra Review: Can Samsung Challenge Apple and Dell?

Samsung's Galaxy Book4 Ultra is a bold attempt to compete with the MacBook Pro and Dell XPS at the premium end of the laptop market. We tested it extensively to see if the Korean giant can deliver on its ambitious promises.

Samsung has been making laptops for years, but the Galaxy Book4 Ultra represents their most serious attempt yet to compete with Apple and Dell at the premium end of the market. With Intel Core Ultra 9, NVIDIA RTX 4070, and a stunning AMOLED display, the specs are impressive. But does the execution match the ambition?

DESIGN — PREMIUM BUT FAMILIAR:

The Galaxy Book4 Ultra is a beautiful laptop. The slim aluminum chassis, the minimal bezels, and the overall proportions are elegant. At 1.86kg, it's not the lightest 16-inch laptop, but it's impressively thin. The build quality is solid — no flex, no creaking, everything fits together precisely.

The keyboard is good but not exceptional — key travel is adequate and the layout is sensible, but it doesn't match the ThinkPad or MacBook Pro for typing feel. The trackpad is large and smooth, comparable to the best Windows laptops.

DISPLAY — THE STANDOUT FEATURE:

The 16-inch 3K AMOLED display is genuinely spectacular. Samsung makes the best display panels in the world, and this laptop benefits from that expertise. Colors are vivid and accurate, blacks are true black, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything feel smooth. For content consumption and creative work, this display is a genuine pleasure to use.

PERFORMANCE — CAPABLE BUT NOT EXCEPTIONAL:

The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4070 combination handles professional workloads well. Video editing in Premiere Pro is smooth, gaming at 1080p is excellent, and everyday multitasking is effortless. However, the thermal management is a weak point — under sustained loads, the fans get loud and temperatures climb higher than we'd like.

SAMSUNG ECOSYSTEM INTEGRATION:

Where the Galaxy Book4 Ultra shines is in its integration with other Samsung devices. If you use a Samsung Galaxy phone, the seamless connectivity — sharing clipboard, transferring files instantly, mirroring your phone screen — is genuinely useful. This ecosystem advantage is Samsung's answer to Apple's continuity features.

BATTERY LIFE — DISAPPOINTING:

With the AMOLED display and powerful hardware, battery life is the Galaxy Book4 Ultra's biggest weakness. We averaged 6-7 hours of mixed use — acceptable but not impressive for a premium laptop. The MacBook Pro M4 Pro delivers more than twice this runtime.

VERDICT:

The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra is a capable premium laptop with a stunning display and excellent Samsung ecosystem integration. However, at PKR 499,999, it faces stiff competition from the Dell XPS 15 and MacBook Pro M4 Pro, both of which offer better overall packages.
